Family Style
We believe the family is the heartbeat of a child’s spiritual life.
While our church is committed to providing meaningful experiences, engaging Bible teaching, and opportunities for your child to grow in the love of Christ, we know that nothing replaces the powerful influence of family. Faith is formed not just in classrooms or on Sundays, but around dinner tables, in car rides, at bedtime prayers, and through everyday conversations.
Our role is to partner with you.
That’s why many of our activities are intentionally designed for the whole family to participate together. We want to create opportunities for shared experiences — moments where parents, grandparents, siblings, and caregivers can grow side-by-side, serve together, and build lasting memories rooted in faith.
We value the family unit in whatever form it takes and seek to strengthen and support those bonds. Whether you are a two-parent household, single parent, grandparent-led home, blended family, or guardian, you are essential in shaping your child’s understanding of God’s love.
Together, we can help children build a strong foundation of faith — one that lasts a lifetime.
What We Do
Children's Sunday School
Our K–5th Grade Sunday School is a fun and welcoming space where kids grow in their faith each week. We begin by gathering for a snack and connection time, followed by interactive games and then an engaging Bible lesson that helps children apply God’s Word to their everyday lives. Each week also includes a hands-on craft project that encourages creativity and helps kids explore their faith in our creative God in meaningful, memorable ways.
Family Ministry Events
Our almost-monthly Family Ministry events are designed to bring everyone together for fun, connection, and faith-filled memories. From our Community Easter Egg Hunt and high-energy foam parties to Pancakes with Santa, family movie nights, and so much more, there’s something for every age to enjoy. We encourage the whole family to participate as we laugh, serve, celebrate, and spend intentional time sharing God’s love — all while remembering who we are: His children.
Summer Camp
Since 1947, churches across the Texas Annual Conference have sent students to summer camp in the Piney Woods of East Texas, and for generations, Lakeview Methodist Conference Center has introduced thousands of youth to God, authentic community, and a faith that lasts. This year, June 15–19, our incoming 3rd graders through graduating seniors have the opportunity to be part of that legacy — for some, even walking in the footsteps of their parents who once experienced camp themselves. Camp is $425 per student, and registration begins through Dickinson First UMC. Please don’t let cost keep your child from attending — scholarships are available, and we are committed to helping every student who wants to go experience this life-changing week.
Vacation Bible School - Wild Life
Get ready for a wildly fun week at Vacation Bible School! Think about the strangest animals you can imagine — what noise does an aardvark make? Is an axolotl really smiling? Are glass frogs actually made of glass? It’s amazing to realize that the same God who created every unique and wonderful creature also helps them grow and thrive — and He does the same for us. Wild Life is a four-day adventure where kids discover just how special they are to God and how wild it is that they can share their story, use their gifts, spend time with Him, and grow alongside others. It’s a week full of energy, laughter, and faith-building moments your child won’t forget.
