Dickinson First’s Worship Arts and Music Ministries are an energetic, unique collection of teams that serve our community both in and outside of worship. From the Praise Team and Chancel Choir program through taking the stage with Shining Light Productions, there is a place for anyone who wishes to participate. You are invited to become part of Dickinson First's Worship Arts and Music and experience the presence of God through the melodies and harmonies, scripts and movements, and fabrics and design while in fellowship with others.
What We Do
Chancel Choir
A lively community of adult singers who rehearse on Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm [choir room] and lead worship each Sunday at the 11:00 am Traditional Service in the Sanctuary. Accompanied by our organ and piano, the choir offers a rich and diverse musical experience—from classical masterworks to contemporary sacred music. Whether you’re an experienced vocalist or simply love to sing, there’s a place for you here. No audition is required, and all adults (high school—up) are welcome.
Chancel Handbells
The Chancel Handbell Ensemble is a dedicated group of adult ringers who rehearse weekly and help lead worship once a month at the 11:00 am Traditional Service. Some musical knowledge required, and all adults (high school—up) are welcome. Rehearsals are Wednesdays at 6:00 pm. Contact Nikki Gray for openings.
Praise Team
Led by Nikki Gray and a talented team of musicians. Their inspiring blend of modern worship music draws worshipers into an intimate and safe environment to lift their voices to God. This team works on a monthly rotating schedule and rehearses on Tuesday Night at 7:00 pm. All are invited to audition.
Fellowship SIngers
This auditioned small ensemble of young adult and seasoned high school singers help lead our chancel choir as section leaders, soloists, and cantors. Strong choral singing and sight-reading skills are a must, and cross-over versatility is preferred. For more information on becoming a Fellowship Singer, contact Nikki Gray.
Heavenly Hosts
A dedicated group of volunteers within our worshipping community who serve "behind the scenes" to ensure the worship space is prepared for services. Often described as the "heavenly hosts," their work blends practical maintenance with a deep sense of sacred artistic reverence. Meetings are Thursdays at 9:30 am.
Shining Light Productions
Shining Light Productions is a theater division of Dickinson First United Methodist Church providing artistic performance opportunities for all ages and surrounding communities to share in God's light both as performer and audience.
