Dickinson First youth (DFy)

The world tells us to do whatever benefits ourselves — even if it means cutting corners, bending the rules, or ignoring what’s right. But Jesus calls us to defy that by choosing integrity, standing for justice, and doing what is right no matter the cost.

DO WHAT IS RIGHT

The world tells us to hold grudges, get even, and only show kindness when it’s convenient. But Jesus calls us to defy that by forgiving as we’ve been forgiven and extending mercy even when it’s difficult.

FREELY SHOW MERCY

The world tells us to chase recognition, build our own platform, and make ourselves the center of attention. But Jesus calls us to defy that by serving others, lowering ourselves, and remembering that He is greater than us in every way.

YOUR HUMILITY MATTERS

DFy is a place where students learn to live differently — not because it’s easy, but because following Jesus is worth it.

What We Do

Youth Sunday School

Our K–5th Grade Sunday School is a fun and welcoming space where kids grow in their faith each week. We begin by gathering for a snack and connection time, followed by interactive games and then an engaging Bible lesson that helps children apply God’s Word to their everyday lives. Each week also includes a hands-on craft project that encourages creativity and helps kids explore their faith in our creative God in meaningful, memorable ways.

DFy YouthNight

Our almost-monthly Family Ministry events are designed to bring everyone together for fun, connection, and faith-filled memories. From our Community Easter Egg Hunt and high-energy foam parties to Pancakes with Santa, family movie nights, and so much more, there’s something for every age to enjoy. We encourage the whole family to participate as we laugh, serve, celebrate, and spend intentional time sharing God’s love — all while remembering who we are: His children.

Summer Camp

Since 1947, churches across the Texas Annual Conference have sent students to summer camp in the Piney Woods of East Texas, and for generations, Lakeview Methodist Conference Center has introduced thousands of youth to God, authentic community, and a faith that lasts. This year, June 15–19, our incoming 3rd graders through graduating seniors have the opportunity to be part of that legacy — for some, even walking in the footsteps of their parents who once experienced camp themselves. Camp is $425 per student, and registration begins through Dickinson First UMC. Please don’t let cost keep your child from attending — scholarships are available, and we are committed to helping every student who wants to go experience this life-changing week.

UM Army

Come aboard for Vacation Bible School - July 27 - 30! This summer, our incoming K–5th graders are invited to set sail on a four-day adventure filled with sunshine, sea breezes, laughter, and faith-building fun. Just like we trust a captain to guide a ship, we can trust God to lead our lives. Throughout our voyage, kids will discover how God shows us how to love others, gives us gifts to serve, prepares us to share the Good News, and delights in spending time with us. It’s a week of high-energy worship, meaningful Bible lessons, creative activities, and unforgettable memories — all designed to help kids grow deeper in their faith while having an absolute blast together.
