Finding Peace in the Storm

“And waking up, Jesus rebuked the wind and said to the sea, ‘Peace! Be still!’ Then the wind ceased, and there was a dead calm.” —Mark 4:39
A few weeks after my grandmother passed away, we were going through her house packing up her things and getting ready to sell the house. As I was going through her bookshelf, there was a Bible. I picked it up and decided to open it, and there was a passage written on the inside page: Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Up until that point, I was struggling and grieving over the loss of someone very close to me. However, once I saw that bible verse, it felt as if some of the sorrow I carried was lifted off my shoulders and I started looking to God for support and guidance on how to handle this grief. I found my answer in the book of Mark chapter 4, verses 35-41.
As Jesus and his disciples battled the storm in their boat, I too was fighting a storm in my mind, and as Jesus was able to command the winds to stop howling and the rain to stop pouring I realized something. I realized that through Jesus, I can find the peace I desperately searched for over the past few weeks and that through Christ I can find the strength to continue past the tragedy. With the help of Christ, I was able to make it through the storm, and I thank him every day for helping me find my peace.
